Dr. Simon Mangcwatywa – Principal Executive Officer

Dr. Simon Mangcwatywa holds an MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery), from the University of Cape Town, which he completed in 2001. Prior to joining Sizwe Medical Fund, he was the Executive Medical Director at Adcock Ingram. He served as Head of Medical Affairs and Business Development at Litha Pharma. He held dual roles at Novartis SA as the portfolio Regional Manager for Africa, Middle East & China and Head of Scientific Operations. Dr. Mangcwatywa has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and allied industries, having fulfilled various roles in his career including executive management, business development, market access, clinical marketing, medical advisory and scientific operations.

Mr. Vusi Mbonani – Chief Financial Officer

Mr Mbonani completed his Articles of Clerkship in 1988 with the then Riceman & Company. He has been in the Medical Aid Industry for twenty four years having joined Sizwe Medical Services (now Sechaba Medical Solutions ) in April 1990 as an Assistant Accountant and leaving in 2014 as an Executive Director (CFO). He was a Director at Sechaba Group Holdings P/L until 2014.

Mr Vusi Mbonani holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from the University of The North (now Limpopo). He is a member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants and the Institute of Directors of South Africa (IoDSA).

Mr. Paseka Mokoena (Acting Clinical Executive)

Mr Paseka Mokoena has been in the healthcare financing industry for over twenty years, having worked for various administration and managed care organisations, namely; Discovery Health, African Life-Health, Momentum Medical Scheme Administrators(MMSA), Metropolitan Health Group (MHG) and Private Health Administrators (PHA). He served in different capacities in both administration and managed care business units. He gained overwhelming experience and knowledge of the industry during his tenure in these organisations; and had an opportunity to deal with multiple medical aid schemes as well as different Healthcare service providers. Prior to joining the industry, he worked in both public and private sector hospitals.

He holds a Bachelor of nursing degree from University of Witwatersrand (Wits), Bachelor of Commerce (Risk Management) from UNISA, Management Advancement Programme (MAP) obtained from Wits Business School; Diploma in Occupational Health from RAU (now University of Johannesburg).

Ms. Gugulethu Tlali (Compliance Executive)

Ms Tlali’s previous work experience includes working as a Director in the Legal and Governance Unit of the Department of Public Enterprises, Legal Advisor for the Medical Scheme for the Department of Correctional Services and Legal Advisor and Council Secretariat for the Council for Medical Schemes. Ms Tladi is a member of the CSSA and the IoDSA and is admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. She holds a BPROC degree and an LLB degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal.

She is currently enrolled with the University of Pretoria, studying towards her Masters degree in Corporate Law.
